What is PS3? It is also as Sony’s new PlayStation 3 video gaming system. It has the ability to receive games and other audio-video content over the Internet. You may be confused with it to PSP where the latter is Sony’s Portable PlayStation. PSP is capable of receiving content over the Internet using a built in WiFi connection, that’s is why it is called portable.
A major feature that distinguishes the PlayStation 3 from its other predecessors is the PlayStation Network, its online gaming service connectivity. Other major features of the console is its robust multimedia capabilities, connectivity with the PlayStation Portable, and its use of a high-definition optical disc format, Blu-ray Disc, as its primary storage medium. The PS3 was also the first Blu-ray 2.0-compliant Blu-ray player on the market.
The PlayStation 3 or PS3 is the third home video game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment which is the successor to the PlayStation 2 as part of the PlayStation series. A little bit of PS3’s history. It was first released on November 11, 2006 in Japan, November 17, 2006 in North America, and March 23, 2007 in Europe and Oceania. Since then, several revisions have been made to the console’s available models and it has faced stiff competition from the other next generation gaming consoles. As of July 17, 2008, the PS3 is in third place in home console sales for its generation.
PS3 Updates: Sony PS3 Firmware Update 2.42 is now available for download. The update 2.42 appeared on PSN. All you need to do is switch your Playstation 3 on and there you have it. Some says that the new Sony PS3 firmware update 2.42 will improve the likes of playback quality of some PS3 and Playstation format software, other than that the XMB which looks the same. Maybe this update is just another security update or just to stabilize the system a little more.
